4. Operation method and precautions for regeneration of dry silica gel
a. Operation method for regeneration of dry silica gel
① Heat directly in the pot with the lowest heat. It is recommended to use a frying pan. It will turn back to blue in about 3-5 minutes.
Disadvantages: Most of it will break after heating. It is recommended to use a dispensing bag to pack it, and the broken parts will not leak out.
② Microwave heating, it is recommended to use a low gear, it will turn back to blue in about 20 minutes. It is recommended to heat it several times to release the water vapor in the microwave.
Disadvantages: Most of it will break after heating. It is recommended to use a dispensing bag to pack it, and the broken parts will not leak out.
③ Oven heating, the heating temperature is set to 100 degrees, it is recommended to use a plate or other utensils so that it can be heated over a large area, and it will turn back to blue in 40 minutes.
Disadvantages: The heating time is too long.
Advantages: The blue silica gel will not break during the heating process, and this method is recommended.
b. Precautions
① During drying and regeneration, the temperature should be gradually increased to avoid the explosion of the rubber particles caused by intense drying, which will reduce the recovery rate.
② When the silica gel is roasted and regenerated, too high a temperature will cause changes in the pore structure of the silica gel and significantly reduce its adsorption effect, affecting its use value. For blue gel indicators or color-changing silica gel, the desorption and regeneration temperature should not exceed 120°C, otherwise the color developer will gradually oxidize and lose its color development effect.
③ The regenerated silica gel should generally be sieved to remove fine particles to make the particles uniform.
